Feed my Starving Children
Feed My Starving Children is committed to feeding God's starving children hungry in body and spirit. Our approach is simple: Volunteers pack nutritious meals made up of rice, soy, vitamins and dehydrated vegetables, and we partner with relief organizations worldwide to distribute these meals to starving children. We invite you to join us in this important work.
Meals on Wheels
A number of St Stephens members volunteer to drive their own vehicles and deliver meals to home bound people in South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights and Mendota Heights, on one Wednesday noon, every four weeks. Meals are picked up about 11 AM at the west door of the former Devine Redeemer Hospital in South St. Paul. It usually takes about a short hour to deliver the 10 to 12 meals on each route. Some of the recipients like to visit, so the volunteers not only deliver warm meals, they provide some social contact with the people. Loren Van Pelt is the coordinator and is always on the look out for additional drivers.
Loaves and Fishes
St. Stephen's serves a dinner at St. Matthew's Catholic Church on the west side on the second Tuesday of each month. Serving begins at 5 p.m. and cleanup at 6:00. If you would like to help, contact the church office or come to St. Matthew on the second Tuesday.
Neighbor's Inc.
Neighbor's Inc. provides a food pantry and clothing closet, along with 12 other supportive and emergency services. We have an ongoing collection of food for the food pantry, with a special emphasis in March during Minnesota FoodShare.
A Minnesota Without Poverty - Where All Children Thrive
Corridor of Care
West St. Paul and West Side churches join together to face issues in our communities. Events have included a summer food collection, a candidates' forum, and legislative visits.
Garlough Cooperative
Local churches, agencies and ISD197 work together to improve the lives of students at Garlough and Moreland Elementary Schools. Some events that have come from the Cooperative are a summer program of activities on Wednesday mornings at the Covington Court Apartments, and a computer day-camp for improving academic skills.
